Consultant Neurologist and Neurophysiologist Clinical expertise shaped by listening, clarity and compassion
Dr Francesco Manfredonia is a Consultant Neurologist trained in both Italy and the United Kingdom, with extensive experience across general neurology, epilepsy, neurophysiology and complex neurological diagnosis.
A career spanning neurology, neurophysiology, education and service improvement
I am a Neurologist trained in both Italy and the United Kingdom and registered as a specialist in both countries.
Since 2017, I have led the Neurology and Neurophysiology services at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, introducing practical improvements intended to enhance patient care, clinical pathways and access to specialist assessment.
I believe empathy and careful listening are central to good medical care. My aim is to understand each patient's individual experience rather than viewing symptoms in isolation. This approach has guided my work in developing a one-stop first seizure and epilepsy service designed to streamline assessment, diagnosis and management.
I have extensive experience in electromyography, nerve conduction studies and electroencephalography. I have also contributed to the expansion of Neurophysiology services and to the training of colleagues so that these investigations are used appropriately and interpreted in their proper clinical context.
My clinical work is complemented by research published in peer-reviewed journals, education and training for healthcare professionals, and close collaboration with colleagues across medical specialties.
I am also undertaking analytic training with the West Midlands Institute of Psychotherapy. Having passed the preclinical stage of this training, I am now able to begin working with suitable clients seeking analysis or in-depth psychotherapy, following assessment by a senior analyst.
In addition, I am certified as a Civil Expert Witness through the Cardiff University Bond Solon Civil Expert Witness Scheme. This complements my medico-legal work in neurological and neurophysiological matters.
